We readily disregard the beauty of leaves as they fall to the ground and wither. So quickly we overlook the beauty of things that are plentiful. Yet we try to preserve that which seems scarce. Sometimes the suggestion alone of rarity, or fragility can trigger an emotional response from us to protect or preserve. To fix and to mend, as if the memory will vanish once the artifact is gone.
